Panosteitis (Pano)?
Growing Pains for the Large Breed Adolescent Puppy
Theresa A. Jennings
Puppies from one of the larger breeds can sometimes present a puzzle for their owners.
One day they are fine and then the next day they are limping in one leg. Maybe they are
fine two days later and then a week later a different leg is bothering them.
The vet can take an xray and give the verdict -- Pano.
Pano usually shows up in the pup between six to eighteen months of age, but it is not
uncommon to last longer. Many people treat their dogs with medicine from the vet while
some dogs show improvement with a couple of hours of crate rest.
Improper diet or exercise will aggravate this condition in a growing dog.
