Ear Care
Don't ever put anything down into the ear canal. If there seems to be a lot of dirt
down there pay a visit to the vet as this could be a sign of an infection.
Basic ear car consists of just keeping them clean. There are many liquids on the
market that can be purchased to clean the ears, but most dogs will put up
a major fight over these. Dogs, just like people, do not like liquid poured into their
ears. An easier way, and one that is more to your dog's liking, would be to just
use a damp washcloth and wipe out the inside of the ear flap. Many people like
unscented plain baby wipes--use then throw away. Be careful in the little creases
and be gentle at all times. Don't go deep. Ear cleaning can be done at any time
that you see dirt in the ears, even between baths. If your dog always seems to
have dirty ears make an appointment with your vet. Dirty, smelly ears can be a
sign of something wrong down there. Sometimes bad ears can even be caused
by a tooth infection!
